John 12:40-42

⁴⁰ He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so that they will not see with their eyes and understand with their hearts and be reformed, and I would heal them. ⁴¹ Such things Isaiah said when he saw his glory and spoke of him.

⁴² Nevertheless, among the chief rulers many believed on him. But because of the Pharisees, they would not acknowledge it, lest they should be excommunicated.
